Sub-bids are being sought by general contractor Fortis Construction for various portions of the Madison High School modernization project in Northeast Portland. An open house for prospective bidders will take place Friday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at Fortis’ main office, at 1705 S.W. Taylor St.
Madison High School is located at 2735 N.E. 82nd Ave. It’s due to receive millions of dollars’ worth of work via money from a $790 million bond approved by voters in 2017.
The project includes complete demolition and abatement of existing theater, gym, cafeteria and administrative areas. Further, there will be interior demolition and abatement of areas to remain part of the school. Additional work will involve seismic upgrades, installation of new mechanical and electrical and plumbing systems, and renovations of existing spaces.
The school will gain gym facilities, a new arts wing, science program space, and a large commons and cafe area.
Plans also call for campus site improvements and bleacher renovations to support new baseball and softball fields.
All bids are due by 3 p.m. on Dec. 12. Contractors can learn more by contacting Natasha Carroll at 503-459-4477 or [email protected].
