General contractor Perlo Construction is seeking sub-bids for the second phase of the Gresham-Barlow School District‘s project to improve Deep Creek-Damascus School.

An existing K-5 school building is expanding to accommodate middle school students. The addition will include changing areas, four general classrooms and a multipurpose room for science education.

In addition, HVAC and roofing upgrades are planned, along with a rash of security improvements such as new locking door hardware, a new secure front entry and office modifications. Further, updated furnishings and technology and equipment (including a new wireless system) will be installed in all classrooms. A new low-voltage electrical system will be installed to power intercoms, fire alarms, surveillance cameras and emergency power systems.

Also, the school will gain new playground equipment and surfacing.

The first phase of work was put up for bids in December; its construction will be carried out concurrently with the second phase.

Paul L. Bentley | Architect of Roseburg is the designer of the $4 million project.

A project walk-through has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the school, at 14151 S.E. 242nd Ave. in Damascus. All bids must be submitted prior to 2 p.m. on Feb. 15.

Construction is scheduled to start on or about June 24, after the 2018-19 school year ends. Completion is scheduled for approximately Aug. 6.
