Subcontractors are sought by general contractor Pence Construction to work on the upcoming effort to expand or upgrade career and technical education (CTE) space at Hillsboro High School.

Work will add to and improve an existing building, and include: selective demolition, cast-in-place concrete, concrete polishing, structural steel, carpentry, millwork, casework, roofing, metal panel siding, doors and hardware, storefront, overhead doors, gypsum wallboard, steel framing, acoustic ceilings, tile, resilient flooring, carpeting, wall covering, painting, toilet compartments, bath accessories and cabinets, residential equipment, scientific equipment, countertops, fire suppression, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, low volt security and communications, fire alarm, earthwork, paving, pavement marking, fencing, and utilities. Asbestos and materials containing lead are present at various locations in the school; abatement of those materials is included in this project.

The $3.5 million project is being paid for with money from a $408 million bond approved by voters in 2017. The high school is receiving $31 million worth of improvements; some of the others are seismic upgrades, a cafeteria renovation, and band and music performance space updates.
