For close to a decade now the city of Milwaukie has talked about a potential downtown public plaza. Now, that plaza is finally being built as part of the city鈥檚 South Downtown Concept Plan.

The plaza will be located in the middle of Southeast Main Street, next to the city鈥檚 Dogwood Park, and essentially pedestrianize that stretch of road between the Main Street MAX station and Southeast Washington Street.

Now the city is seeking a construction manager/general contractor to build the new plaza. The contractor will provide pre-construction services and build a 4,000-square-foot colored concrete plaza with artistic elements.

The design requires the use of colored concrete, inlays, textures and multiple colors. The plaza will meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements within a shared road.
