The is in the midst of a 10-year effort to revamp its juvenile correctional facilities across the state.

The latest project involves an update of the Rogue Valley Youth Correctional Facility in downtown Grants Pass. There, general contractor will renovate four separate housing units; each has sufficient sleeping space for up to 25 youth inmates.

S+B James Construction is seeking subcontractors to perform all scopes of work associated with the project, which is part of an estimated $1 million in upgrades planned for the facility. Consultants have long recommended installation of new security fencing, renovations of control rooms, construction of a new multipurpose room for treatment activities, and creation of new areas for outdoor recreation.

The Rogue Valley facility is receiving upgrades on the heels of construction of the New Bridge High School, which physically connects with the main Rogue Valley building and contains four classrooms for youths living there.
