The chairman and CEO of Kidder Mathews, which touts itself as the largest independent commercial real estate firm on the West Coast, recently received a lifetime achievement award from the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Jeff Lyon ran a family-owned business until 1991, when his company merged with Kidder Mathews. When Lyon became CEO, the company had 150 employees spread across four offices. Today, those totals are 800 employees in 22 offices across five states. The firm now manages over 55 million square feet of space.
Lyon received Seattle Magazine’s CEO of the Year award last year, and in 2009 was recognized by Ernst & Young as Northwest Entrepreneur of the Year. He also serves on the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County. He previously served as president for both the Washington Association of Realtors and CCIM’s Washington state chapter.
