R&H Construction recently celebrated completion of a large addition to a senior living complex in Southeast Portland.
The new Pavilion at the Courtyard at Mt. Tabor adds 16,000 square feet to the facility, which is located on Southeast Division Street near the junction with 62nd Avenue. The addition of 17 new private units and six double units brings the total number of independent living, assisted living and memory care units in the facility to 309.
This is the second major project at the complex carried out by R&H Construction; it previously performed a complete remodel of the common areas in 2009. Ground was broken on the addition in October 2018. Work was carried out on a tightly constrained jobsite, around a fully operating facility.
Other project partners include Strategic Student & Senior Housing Trust Inc., SmartStop Asset Management LLC and Integral Senior Living.
A grand opening ceremony held Nov. 6 was highlighted by a tree topping – a Scandinavian tradition that involves placing an evergreen tree atop a newly constructed building. This honors the trees harvested for their lumber and serves as a blessing for the building.
