A 68-unit apartment complex in Northeast Portland has sold for $12 million to a California multifamily company.

The Astoria, at 1913 N.E. 73rd Ave., was built in 1950 and has undergone renovations within the past 10 years. The midcentury apartments are located on more than 2.5 acres in the Madison South neighborhood next to Rose City Golf Course.

“The Astoria generated multiple offers due to its period charm, updated units and its centralized eastside location,” Kidder Mathews Executive Vice President Jordan Carter stated in a news release. “Additionally, the University of Western States, which is moving its headquarters just seven blocks up the street, will bring a new and consistent wave of chiropractic students and renters to the immediate area.”

Kidder Mathews represented both the buyer, JEMS Corp., and seller, West Valley Properties Inc. JEMS Corp. is registered in Northridge, California, and Eli Mizrahi is listed as president. West Valley Properties is registered to Kathy and Gary George of Newberg.

The property previously sold for $11.25 million in December 2015, according to public records.
