Design Week Portland is set to return April 18-25 with more than 350 events showcasing innovations and issues in architecture, fashion, graphic design and other disciplines.

Now in its eighth year, Design Week will kick off with an opening party at Straub Collaborative in Northwest Portland produced by JOOP JOOP Creative.

On the first day, participants will be able to take a walking tour of Portland bridges or head to the Portland Japanese Garden to study the calligraphy of Shoko Kanazawa, the official calligrapher of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Tuesday will bring the panel discussion “OK Boomer: The World According to Gen-Z.” Other discussions will include inclusive design, forming a B-corporation, wine label design and architecture for international clients.

Tours will include the renovated Portland Building and the Louisa Flowers affordable housing building. The annual AIA Homes Tour is scheduled for April 25.

Design Week Portland is organized by Design Portland, a nonprofit organization. Many events are free. Costs for other events vary.
