A pair of heavy machinery companies are proposing to build new sales and service dealerships along Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

Pape虂 Machinery and Ditch Witch West will meet with Gresham Urban Design and Planning staff at a pre-application conference on May 6 to discuss the development, which calls for construction of separate buildings on a joint, 11.26-acre site pieced together from three separate tax lots. The largest of those is a 6.3-acre parcel at 17217 N.E. Sandy Blvd.

Pape虂 Machinery markets new and used construction and forestry equipment in the Portland-metro area. A site plan submitted by applicant VLMK Engineering + Design indicates a roughly 60,000-square-foot sales, rental, parts and service dealership would be built on the site’s eastern portion.

Ditch Witch West, meanwhile, would build a 20,000-square-foot facility with the same functions for its directional drilling equipment on the site’s western portion 鈥� adjacent to the Zimmerman House Museum at 17111 N.E. Sandy Blvd.

A pre-application memo submitted by Pape虂 Machinery states that construction typology would consist of engineered steel construction with 鈥渁ppropriate鈥� siding and a block wainscot. Undisclosed design features would 鈥渃reate a high-image presence.鈥�

Around 60 percent of the footprint would be allocated to a service shop at each building, with 20 percent going to parts storage and 20 percent to office and general use space.

The building height would be no more than 30 feet at the eaves.

The site would be equipped with a vehicle wash station, with used water filtered to comply with requirements for discharge into the city’s sanitary sewer system.
