A package of draft zoning code updates that aim to help people understand and follow Portland’s zoning code is now available for public review and comment. The  of the Regulatory Improvement Code Amendment Package 10 (RICAP 10) contains the most recent updates and improvements to Portland’s land use regulations.
This is the first RICAP project after a five-year hiatus, the city stated in a press release.
The Portland Planning Commission will consider the RICAP 10 proposed draft during a public hearing at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Prior to the hearing, Bureau of Planning and Sustainability staff will brief commissioners on the proposals.
The proposed draft considers more than 80 items for possible regulatory improvement, with a focus on housing production, economic development, and regulatory reduction. Some items would be minor policy changes, while others would be technical amendments or clarifications with little policy impact.
The commission will hold a work session on March 12 to discuss any potential changes to the proposed draft. Then, on April 9, the group will vote whether to forward a recommended draft to the Portland City Council for review.
