Rinchem鈥檚 new 72,000-square-foot hazmat warehouse in Cornelius is a testament to cutting-edge design and meticulous planning.

Situated on a 10-acre site, the facility boasts a staggering capacity of 10,450 pallets, providing plenty of space for a wide range of chemical products and temperature requirements. The warehouse, with 59,154 square feet of ISO yard and 238 ISO spaces, ensures precise segregation and handling of hazardous materials.

Rinchem鈥檚 warehouse is a type H2-, H3- and H4-occupancy and includes a detached isolation tank and trailer parking pad, storm detention pond and site parking. It features a host of specialized elements, including a unique fire suppression system for flammable liquids, chemical-resistant epoxy flooring, super flat slabs for wire-guided forklift aisles and a fully fireproofed roof structure. The facility is also equipped with a backup generator, ensuring uninterrupted operations.

Rinchem designed the floor to have a special rating for floor flatness, which exceeds the highest classification known as 鈥渟uper flat鈥� per guidelines provided by the American Concrete Institute. Traditionally, concrete floors are deemed 鈥渇lat鈥� if they deviate less than 1/8 inch over 10 feet. Because of the height of the racking and defined path of travel slab for the forklift aisles, the floor needed to have an F-min 75 rating, meaning it鈥檚 even flatter and more level than 鈥渟uper flat.鈥�

During construction, extra precautions were taken to ensure safety, including deeper footings for a more stable base, extensive shoring techniques to mitigate risks and maintain stability, a 100 percent continuous air exchange rate to remove contaminants from the air, temporary fencing to separate any active tank storage, and extensive safety meetings with field crews and crane operators to tilt massive panels that weighed more than 200,000 pounds.

Rinchem鈥檚 warehouse is poised to make a significant impact on the local economy. The facility is projected to employ a substantial workforce, providing much-needed jobs in the community. In addition, the strategic location and expanded storage capacity will boost support for semiconductor manufacturers in the region, meeting the industry鈥檚 burgeoning demands.
