A weekly list of highlights from commercial land use review activity in Portland by the Bureau of Development Services in the prior week.

Type 1 procedure (design review) – pending   
Address: 1440 N.E. Broadway
Applicant: J.J. Cutsforth of ES&A Sign & Awning Co.

Plans call for installation of three aluminum canopies.


Type 2 procedure (adjustment) – pending 
Address: 11529 S.E. Division St.
Applicant: Ryan Austin of Polyphon Architecture & Design LLC

The proposal calls for construction of a three-story apartment building with prefabricated modules providing 22 affordable housing units. The development would include a reinforced underground dry well and sump sediment catch basin designed and specified by a registered civil engineer. All stormwater mitigation methods would meet all applicable codes and zoning regulations. An adjustment has been requested to reduce the front setback (along Southeast 116th Avenue) from a minimum of 10 feet to 5 feet.

Applicant: Joseph Echeverri of Bassetti Architects 
Owner: School District No. 1

The Hayu Alqi Uyxat Building (previously known as the Multiple Pathways to Graduation Building) is an alternative high school being built for Portland Public Schools adjacent to the Benson Polytechnic High School campus. The main project was approved. This application is for an adjustment review related to two freestanding monument signs proposed for the project.


Type 2 procedure (adjustment) – pending  
Address: 8653 N. Edison St.
Applicant: Emily Sandy of Strata Land Use Planning 
Owner: GB Investments LLC

Plans call for construction of a four-story, 40-unit development. A common outdoor area would be located at the southeast portion of the site. The primary building entrance would face Edison Street. No on-site vehicle parking is proposed. The development team intends to meet inclusionary housing requirements.
