While Jennie Fowler enjoys the design aspect of her work, it’s the relationships she is able to build with the people who use the spaces she creates that give her the most satisfaction.

鈥淓verybody kind of likes the design part because it’s so fun, but when you connect with people and understand how they need to use the space and thrive and you’re able to hear that and achieve that in the post-occupancy sense, it’s really better to me than the joy of design work,鈥� she said.

One of Fowler’s goals in starting her own company has been to design interiors for single-family homes to financially support her firm and allow her to also provide affordable housing and interiors that offer peace and comfort for people who have experienced trauma and pain. She currently is working on permanent supportive housing and a residential treatment facility for youth.

鈥淚t feels really good to be able to work on these socially impactful projects, and I’m continuing to work on those relationships that make that possible,鈥� she said. 鈥淚’m very excited to see them coming together in ways that feel inspiring for those who are going to be inhabiting those spaces.鈥�
