Jill Arnold has dedicated 24 years to healthcare design, drawing from personal experiences that shaped her passion for creating welcoming medical environments.
Arnold currently leads complex healthcare projects at Scott Edwards Architecture, where she has worked for approximately 13 years. Her most significant achievement was serving as project architect and project manager for the Salem Health Patient Tower Expansion, the firm鈥檚 largest project to date. The seven-story, 203,000-square-foot expansion added 150 licensed beds to Salem Hospital, one of Oregon鈥檚 largest acute care facilities with the West Coast鈥檚 busiest emergency department.
Despite construction challenges during the pandemic and 2020 wildfires, Arnold delivered the project under budget and on schedule. Her innovation extended to designing a custom drain for patient room showers, known as 鈥淛ill鈥檚 Trench Drain,鈥 which prevents water splashing and continues to benefit daily hospital operations.
Arnold has established expertise in secure residential treatment facilities, addressing Oregon鈥檚 behavioral healthcare needs. She researches extensively beyond basic requirements to create healing environments that serve community members.
As a LEED Accredited Professional and NCARB-certified architect, Arnold maintains active membership in the American Institute of Architects. She serves on Scott Edwards Architecture鈥檚 leadership team, mentoring colleagues and sharing knowledge across the firm鈥檚 Wellness Homeroom structure while contributing to the company鈥檚 collaborative culture.
鈥淛ill is generous with her knowledge and her time, both attributes that make her an excellent mentor within the firm,鈥 wrote Alden Kasiewicz, managing principal and architect with SEA, when nominating Arnold for Women of Vision recognition.
