Affordable housing high-rise changes course
Plans presented for Hollywood HUB Housing to the Portland Design Commission on Thursday call for a 12-story, 120-foot building with 234 affordable units. It is the second design advice hearing for the project; the first included a 13-story, 199-unit building scheme.

The Portland Bureau of Development Services has approved a construction permit for a four-story, 54-unit building with 10 shared kitchens; it will be located at 1521 N.E. 41st Ave. in the Hollywood District.

Hollywood Apartments construction begins without neighborhood input
A developer has broken ground for a mixed-use building next to the Hollywood Theatre in Northeast Portland. The project team, facing concerns from local businesses and preservationists, chose to bypass what could have been a lengthy design review process and went with a different city process instead.
Myhre Group designs Hollywood District project
A planned transit-oriented development is expected to appeal to young, urban dwellers when it opens adjacent to the historic Hollywood Theatre. The building, designed by Myhre Group Architects, will feature 51 market-rate apartment units, ground-floor commercial space and an internal courtyard and pedestrian plaza.
Burger Bar
The historic building for the Burger Bar in Portland’s Hollywood District was built in 1922 as a trolley station, and then turned into the Burger Bar in 1954. The interior is getting a cosmetic renovation.
