An 86-year-old commercial building in the Industrial District is being demolished to create space for a new mixed-use development. Crews with LOI Environmental & Services began demolition Tuesday of the 8,000-square-foot former home of Portland Music Co. at Southeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Washington Street.

The building and an adjacent parking lot will be replaced by a six-story building with ground-floor commercial space and five stories of open creative office space. is serving as the general contractor for the -designed project, which is being developed by a partnership between and Urban Development + Partners.

Crews with LOI Environmental & Services are demolishing the former Willamette Athletic Club property in the John’s Landing neighborhood of Southwest Portland. Developers purchased the property  earlier this year, and are building a -designed apartment building on the site.

is serving as general contractor on the $43 million project, which  totals 195,000 square feet and includes 166 one- and two-bedroom apartments, 144 parking spaces, rooftop deck with entertainment kitchen, gym, paddleboard storage, and bike parking and repair space. The project is slated for completion in December 2015.

Crews with LOI Environmental & Services are demolishing a nearly 40,000-square-foot building on the North Williams Avenue/Vancouver Avenue corridor to make way for a large mixed-use development. is the general contractor on the project, designed by for Seattle-based owner .

Three buildings with a total of 268 residential units and over 25,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space will be built on the site. A six-story building will occupy the north-facing portion of the block along North Skidmore Street, a five-story building will run along North Williams Avenue, and a three-story townhome-style building will be built along North Vancouver Avenue. The development will also contain a subgrade parking garage with 237 parking stalls.

Crews with are in the process of demolishing a Northeast Glisan Street building in preparation for the construction of guest housing for Providence Portland Medical Center. Designed by Architects and to be built by , the Providence Guest Housing building will contain 30 units to house the family and patients of the hospital’s cancer center. The 2.5-story wood-frame structure will also feature community space including a kitchen, living area, and a reflection room for families who need a peaceful space outside of their living quarters.

of the 88-year-old concrete structure began last week and is expected to last through early July. Completion of the project is slated for April 2015.
