In advance of MAX line, Milwaukie reimagines its downtown

With light rail scheduled to arrive from Portland in 2015, the city of Milwaukie has already discussed possibilities such as a minor league baseball stadium and an outdoor shopping center. But Milwaukie officials first want to make sure space will be available to accommodate smaller projects: community-oriented ones centered on a public plaza.

Milwaukie assisted living facility being remodeled

Royalton Place, a senior independent living home in Milwaukie, is receiving a remodel of its main entry area. Walls were removed to open up the space, a reception desk was installed, and walls, doors, flooring and lighting were updated. The general contractor is Todd Hess Building Co.

Milwaukie Elks Lodge for sale

The Elks Lodge at 13121 S.E. McLoughlin Blvd., built for the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks in 1954, is for sale for $6.5 million and has a market value of $8.8 million. It's a 61,340-square-foot event hall in the Oak Grove community with a basketball court, an eight-lane bowling alley and a commercial kitchen.
