United Streetcar, a subsidiary of Oregon Iron Works, was hired to construct five new streetcars for Portland Streetcar by July. Those vehicles will finally be delivered within the next two weeks. The first one is scheduled to begin operating on Dec. 16, with the others to follow in three-week intervals.

Portland City Council today approved a handful of changes to the Eastside Streetcar Loop project. The changes to contracts and intergovernmental agreements reflect complications in the project that will delay its completion and reduce streetcars on the 3.3-mile from six to five.

Pearl streets reopen with changed traffic patterns
