Title
Founding Principal

Carrie Strickland, principal of WORKS Architecture, has built one of the most highly regarded design firms in Portland and on the West Coast over the past 20 years. Under her leadership, the firm has expanded to manage active projects in 12 states, transforming neighborhoods through design-forward development that balances creative vision with real-world constraints.

Strickland鈥檚 work spans creative renovations and adaptive reuse of historic buildings alongside new construction that pushes the boundaries of modern building science and technology. She has worked to bring design dialogue to the broader public since 2005 through events and exhibitions that bridge the gap between design professionals and the community.

She has taught architecture at the University of Oregon and Portland State University and regularly serves as a juror, lecturer and panelist nationally on topics including design excellence and community engagement. Strickland has held board positions with the AIA and supports organizations including the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation and Women in Design, which advocate for equity and visibility for women in architecture.
