The Portland Design Commission last week unanimously approved designs for two downtown projects.

TVA Architects’ designs for Park Avenue West, a 33-story tower retail, office and condominium project planned for the block bordered by Southwest Morrison and Yamhill Streets and Park and Ninth Avenues, were approved.

鈥淭his will be a gateway to our office, retail and shopping core,鈥� Chairman Lloyd Lindley said.

Renovation of the Federal Reserve Bank building on Southwest Stark Street was also approved, with commissioners saying that Hennebery Eddy Architects’ solution went a long way toward opening up the former bank for office uses.

鈥淚’m very pleased to see that it is going to be recycled into reuse,鈥� Commissioner Jeff Stuhr said.
