A 400-acre solar park is coming to the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, its location won鈥檛 be Oregon.

Instead, the , owned and managed by a private solar energy company, is planned for a spread of land in Washington state. Specificially, near Cle Elum, about 80 miles southeast of Seattle.

A Web site claims the park will contain 400,000 photovoltaic panels, settled in amid an existing pine forest.

CH2M Hill is working on site design and doing environmental studies. The company’s also handling getting a conditional use permit, with plans to submit an application in early August. If all permits are obtained as anticipated by solar park’s owner, construction will begin next spring.
