Ground will be broken this month on a federal stimulus project to bring McMinnville streets up to Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Baker Rock Resources of McMinnville was recently awarded a $690,000 contract to upgrade curb ramps in the area, as well as construct new pavement overlays on several city streets.

鈥淭here are streets there that are failing and need to be reconditioned,鈥 said Gene Lilly, a project inspector with the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Work will include grinding off existing asphalt, repairing base damage and repaving the street. Streets that will be improved include 19th Street, Fellow Street and Linfield Avenue.

Construction is expected to begin next week and be completed by May 28, 2010, Lilly said.
