The Senate is considering an $80 billion job-stimulus bill in the days before President Obama’s State of the Union address, in which he is expected to talk about jobs.

This comes as the construction industry is seeing jobs . As Hoffman Construction’s Bart Eberwein , “There’s no light at the end of the tunnel.”

The package is subject to change, but a draft summary of proposals under discussion includes small business credits, tens of billions of dollars in infrastructure spending, energy efficiency programs, money to hire police and firefighters and billions to boost lending to small businesses.

Several of the Portland-area’s big ticket items are being built with stimulus dollars. , Old Town/Chinatown, Portland Community College,ÌýPendleton’s sewer treament, just to name a fraction of them all.

Economists say the first $787 billion stimulus package in 2009 kept unemployment numbers from getting higher and prevented a depression. How do you feel about stimulus money? Is it against your economic philosophy? Or do you care at this point?
