$65M makeover planned for ODOT headquarters

The state Legislature on Tuesday passed , which allocates $65 million for a renovation of the Oregon Department of Transportation’s headquarters building near the Capitol Mall in Salem.

Both , which authorized bond funding for the University of Oregon’s new residence hall, and Senate Bill 5563 were previously passed by Oregon’s Joint Committee on Ways and Means.

ODOT predicts the 18-month renovation of its facilities will create approximately 466 jobs, including direct construction jobs and jobs with suppliers and contractors. The building’s mechanical ventilation system will be retrofitted and other improvements will be made during the renovation, which was designed by SERA Architects.

Repayment of the bonds sold to finance the ODOT building project will be replaced using dedicated transportation funds.
