Real estate transactions rarely start my engine. But an email I received today from Macadam Forbes about Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Wind Energy Corp. leasing space in Northwest Portland got my (turbine) motor running.
Suzlon is the fifth largest wind turbine-maker in the world. According to the press release from Macadam Forbes the company leased 27,060 square feet of industrial space at 2720 NW Sherlock St., in Portland, on January 25, 2010.
According to an by the Portland Business Journal, Suzlon in 2009 completed a deal to buy a 90.7 percent stake in REpower USA Corp., a Portland-based subsidiary of German wind turbine-maker REpower Systems AG.
I have a call in to Suzlon to find out what they’ll be doing with their new space.
