Three proposers have been selected in step 1 of a 2-step process for the final design and construction of the Willamette River Transit Bridge segment of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail.

Listed in alphabetical order, the companies selected are Flatiron Constructors (Lafayette, Colo.), Kiewit Pacific Co.  (Vancouver, Wash.) and PCL/Traylor Joint Venture (Bellevue, Wash.).

The scoring for the evaluation criteria for Step 1 consisted of management (40 points), design experience (40 points), construction experience (40 points), key personnel (30 points) and management plan (50 points), bringing the total possible points to 200.

There’s a lot riding on step 2 for the selected proposers. The anticipated cost range for this contract is between $1million and $1.35 million. The selected proposers will have four months for Step 2 of the process, which is to develop final technical and price proposals.

So, to you, the “Selected Three” –- get ready to dedicate a lot of hard work in getting your final proposals together. I recommend that you put on your “s***-kickers” (cowboy boots), turn on some country music and get ready to do the two-step.
