GSA ‘rethinking’ federal building’s living wall

The 250-foot-tall living wall on the Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building may be cut from the building’s renovation plans.

The wall, which has received international attention, is one of the aspects of the federal structure’s new design that is under review by the General Services Administration, according to GSA spokesman Ross Buffington.

“We have been continuously revising the design since we received the stimulus award,” Buffington said. “Since receiving that award it has turned into a brand new project that we are giving a second and third look to. The GSA is rethinking the living wall and is also looking at other mechanical systems for the project.”

Buffington says that once a final design is chosen, the GSA will release new renderings of the project. A date for the new renderings to be released has not been identified.
