The latest winner of reality TV show will put on a solar panel-inspired fashion show during .
Seth Aaron Henderson, a resident of Vancouver, Wash., is teaming up with photovoltaics manufacturer SolarWorld for the show and collection, which will explore “the technology’s aesthetic possibilities,” according to the SolarWorld press release. Henderson toured SolarWorld’s Hillsboro plant for inspiration, and SolarWorld will even provide a runway made out of solar panels.
The name of the show: “Solar is the New Black.”
It will be a “high-fashion, conceptual collection based upon the technology, materials and ethos of solar power, inspired by SolarWorld’s new black monocrystalline solar panels,鈥 Portland Fashion Week producer Chris Cone said in the press release.
SolarWorld spokesman Ben Santarris said, “We hope to raise awareness of our products to a group of people that we may not normally reach.”
“We were intrigued by the possibility of a fashion avenue, exploring the chic and aesthetic possibilities of our technology,” Santarris said.
When asked if he imagined people wearing solar panels on the street in a few years, Santarris said, “No. This is an adventure for us.”
The collection will be unveiled Oct. 9. Portland Fashion Week runs Oct. 6-10.
