Construction bidding will soon open for preliminary work on the Cannery Square development in Sherwood.

The work on public amenities includes mass grading of the 6.4-acre site; utility installation including storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water; public street improvements including specialty paving; franchise utility improvements; landscaping improvements; and vegetated corridor improvements.  The estimated bid range for the public amenities work is between $1.74 million and $2.25 million.

A mandatory pre-bid conference will be held Aug. 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room located at City Hall, 22560 S.W. Pine St. in Sherwood. Preliminary construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 15. Construction of the development is scheduled for January 2011.

The Sherwood Cannery project is a public/private mixed-use project that will consist of 101 apartments and about 35,000 square feet of commercial and community space. One of the major aspects of the project will be the renovation of the 13,000-square-foot machine works building, located in the middle of the site, into a cultural center and commercial space.
