Regional government Metro is looking for public participation in its charge to form a Community Investment Strategy.
In order to get the public’s opinion, Metro will hold six open houses around the Metro region over the next two weeks. The events will inform citizens about the Community Investment Strategy and help the regional government gain insight on what the public would like to see the region look like in the future.
The idea of a Community Investment Strategy came out of Metro’s Chief Operating Officer Michael Jordan’s recommendation to the Metro Council on Aug. 10. Jordan urged the council to draft a plan that strengthened public-private partnerships around the region, helping fill funding gaps for projects like roads, bridges water systems and parks.
The open houses begin Monday, Sept. 13, and run through Sept. 22 at the following locations:
Southeast Portland, Lents Boys and Girls Club – Monday, Sept. 13, 5 to 7 p.m.
For those who can’t attend one of the public forums, Metro will make an online survey available starting Monday, Sept. 13. The survey will be posted on the Metro website homepage.
