The Port of Portland Commission Wednesday laid out and approved a comprehensive wish list of potential transportation projects totaling $4.4 billion that the commission would like to see completed.

The approved document is known as the , which identifies and prioritizes five-, 10- and 20-year marine, road, rail, air, transit, bicycle and pedestrian transportation improvement projects around the Portland-metro area. The plan will now be passed along to regional government Metro and the Oregon Department of Transportation for consideration in the statewide Regional Transportation Plan.

On the list are 98 different projects. The most expensive project is the Columbia River Crossing, which is estimated at $2.98 billion and is listed in the 10-year time frame. Priority projects include the Interstate 205 northbound access at Airport Way in Portland, Exit 17 interchange improvements on Interstate 84 in Troutdale, improvements to the access point of the Troutdale Reynolds Industrial Park and additional lane at Northeast 82^nd Avenue and Columbia Boulevard.

In a release on the plan, Port Executive Director Bill Wyatt said continued investment in projects like these will help ensure the competitiveness of Oregon’s trade-based economy and the retention and creation of jobs.

The port is required each year to update the Port Transportation Improvement Plan and submit it to both Metro and ODOT.
