Before Oregon legislators officially kicked off this year’s legislative session in Salem, they sat down with Tim Duy to hear his opinions about where the state’s economy is headed.
The politicians’ decision to tap into Duy’s expertise as an economist is understandable. A few years ago, the University of Oregon professor and Oregon Economic Forum director told a crowd gathered at an annual Portland-area economic forum that Oregon – and the country – was headed for a recession. As the companies in the local building industry know all too well, Duy was spot-on in his prediction.
On Thursday, developers, contractors and banking industry professionals will have a chance to hear Duy’s predictions for Oregon’s 2011 economic outlook during the Daily Journal of Commerce’s Builder Banker Breakfast.
Joining Duy as speakers at the breakfast will be John Wuest and Carole Bentley, both with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Wuest and Bentley are expected to provide some insight into how the lending market will shape up during the coming year.
Since their inception, the 91视频’s quarterly Builder Banker Breakfasts have become a favorite of the industry, offering both networking opportunities and business insights, said 91视频 advertising director Cris Schulz.
This year’s topics and speakers are expected to continue that tradition. The 2011 breakfast events will be held at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront, 1401 S.W. Naito Parkway. As in previous years, the Thursday event with begin with networking from 7:30 to 8 a.m., and be followed by the breakfast program from 8 to 9 a.m. Tickets are on sale for $40 each and can be purchased online at djcoregon.com/events/builder-banker-breakfast.
