Publicly-traded real estate investment trust has sold off two of its Portland-area apartment buildings to the Swedish pension fund adviser Alecta Real Estate USA LLC.

The Chicago-based REIT sold Alecta the 373-unit Tanasbourne Terrace and the 352-unit Club at Tanasbourne, both located in , for a combined $69.4 million, according to Tim Brown of the Seattle-based , which brokered the portfolio purchase.

Equity Residential owns more than 500 apartment complexes, most of which have more than 200 units, in 16 states, including Oregon. The REIT also owns such apartment complexes as Center Pointe, Club at the Green and LaSalle, all of which are in Beaverton, as well as Kempton Downs in Gresham.

Alecta manages more than $70.7 billion for 1.8 million private individuals and 30,000 companies worldwide. Its American operation is based out of San Francisco. In recent months the company has been acquiring various apartment complexes and buildable properties throughout Seattle.
