Oregon members of the National Association of Women in Construction received honors at NAWIC鈥檚 region 9 annual forum this weekend. Region 9 represents chapters in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.

Dalene Schafer, office manager with Precision Construction and former Oregon NAWIC chapter president, was elected to the position of Region 9 director, and will sit on NAWIC鈥檚 national board of directors. Schafer was also named the region鈥檚 2011 Woman in Construction of the year.

鈥淭he biggest thing that Dalene has brought to our chapter is bringing us into the 21^st century, which has been great for bringing NAWIC out into the community,鈥� said NAWIC Portland chapter President Carol Helms.

Samantha Jordan, marketing manager for Emerick Construction, was honored with the 鈥淔uture Leader of the Year鈥� award.

鈥淪amantha has just been wonderful, jumping right in, right onto the board and participating in every committee we have and every event,鈥� Helms said.
