Kitzhaber signs Cool Schools legislation

As many as 43 will receive energy-efficiency upgrades this summer, funded by a program officially kicked off today when Gov. John Kitzhaber signed into law his “Cool Schools” legislation.

“Cool Schools is a triple-win for Oregon,” said Kitzhaber in a statement about the legislation today. “The program will bring family-wage jobs, cost savings, and better learning environments to schools in communities across the state.”

According to Kitzhaber’s spokesperson Christine Miles, 43 schools have already applied for funds to make upgrades this summer. The application process will remain open until July 15.
