Two firms submitted proposals in response to a Portland Development Commission request for proposals to design a renovation of Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum.
Boora Architects and Populous, and Opsis Architecture with AECOM, submitted their proposals earlier this month, said PDC senior procurement specialist Daniel Spero.
The renovation of Memorial Coliseum is slated to include upgrades to concessions, seating, lighting, the building’s hockey rink and chiller, and energy-efficiency advances bringing the building up to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold standards. Construction is expected to start in January 2012 and end in December 2012.
An eight-person evaluation committee will select a team soon, Spero said.
鈥淲e’re in the process of figuring out calendars and logistics,鈥 he said.
Boora Architects helped develop the scope of the renovation project in a consulting contract with the PDC.
