Shortly after opening a primary care clinic on Stonemill Drive in Vancouver, Wash., Providence Health & Services realized there was enough demand to open a second location in Washington state.

For that second project, the health care provider selected a 1.4-acre site on Southeast 192nd Avenue, next to Lacamas Community Credit Union and near the Vancouver-Camas line.  Although the site is located in Vancouver’s growth boundary, it has a Camas address.

The building was designed as a two-story structure. Plans called for four tenants in the building, a mix that included Providence Medical Group, rehabilitation and orthopedic services, and blood-drawing facilities. Because each of the tenants had distinct needs, the interior of the building was designed to allow interior build-outs.

By working closely with Providence and the project architect, Jon R. Jurgens Associates, general contractor In Line Commercial Construction was able to successfully meet the requirements for the interior of the building.

Strong communication with the project owner and architect also helped In Line meet regulatory requirements for the project while ensuring that the mechanical, plumbing and electrical components of the project met high efficiency standards.

Other sustainable features of the building include low-VOC materials and day-lighting techniques to take advantage of natural light.

The exterior of the building features a combination of split-face CMU block, windows and a curtain wall on two sides of the structure. An existing parking lot on the site was expanded as part of the exterior work for the project.

The building now is known in the community as the Camas Medical Office Plaza.

In addition to its Camas and Vancouver clinics, Providence has Oregon primary care clinics in Wilsonville and Tigard.
