Fortis Construction to build Facebook data center in Sweden

Portland-based was awarded a $121 million contract from Facebook to construct a data center in Lulea, Sweden. Fortis will be working with of Redwood City, Calif. and to build the 300,000-square-foot building.

Construction is beginning this month and is scheduled for completion in December 2012, and two more data centers are planned for the region. The building is designed to meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold rating.

Fortis and DPR are currently working on Facebook’s data centers in Prineville and Forest City, N.C.
