Facebook’s Prineville data center earns sustainability nod
Facebook’s Prineville data center recently received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. Overall, the data center requires 52 percent less energy to operate than a comparable facility built to code requirements.
Fortis Construction to build Facebook data center in Sweden
Portland-based Fortis Construction Inc. was awarded a $121 million contract from Facebook to construct a data center in Lulea, Sweden. Fortis will be working with DPR Construction of Redwood City, Calif. and NCC Construction Sweden to build the 300,000-square-foot building.
