A contemporary-looking live-work building on Northeast 80th Avenue is the last of a set of three still available.

The building, at 148 N.E. 80th Ave., was finished late last year by Kurt Chiapuzio, a broker and a builder who also designed it. Two similar buildings on the street were sold to a therapist and a textile designer. This one, presently being used to house an art show, has an asking price of $232,500.

The 1,680-square-foot building鈥檚 slender design isn鈥檛 unique in Portland 鈥� it鈥檚 popular for homes. But Chiapuzio used the design for commercial space 鈥� work space on the bottom and residential space on top.

鈥淯nlike the skinny houses you see being built all over Portland, where you have a garage below and a house above it, this is really dual purpose,鈥� said broker Tod Breslau with Windermere Commercial.

Breslau said the idea was to match the atmosphere of 80th Avenue 鈥� a street with a mix of residential and commercial spaces.

鈥淭hey鈥檙e something for the creative entrepreneur who wants a place to live and work that is affordable,鈥� Breslau said.

The building sports high, vaulted ceilings; reclaimed hardwood and a stained, concrete floor. It has a glass garage door and an energy-efficient furnace.
