Fred Meyer buys $3.6M fuel station in Wilsonville

has purchased a 10,000-square-foot piece of property in and plans to open a new fuel center at the site.

The grocery store chain purchased the former Chevron station at 9815 S.W. Wilsonville Road for approximately $3.57 million, according to a press release from the seller’s real estate agent, Todd Collins of . The agents for were Jeff Olsen and Alex Maclean of .

Judi Swift, Fred Meyer community relations coordinator, said the purchase reflected the company’s desire to offer fuel at its existing Wilsonville location.

鈥淲e wanted to put a fuel station at the Wilsonville store, and there wasn’t enough room in the parking lot,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t’s the one stop shopping experience that we provide for our customers, and they want fuel and that’s the closest we can get to our store without having it on our property.鈥

The site will be the 77th fuel station for the retail chain since its parent company, The Kroger Co., directed it to begin offering fuel about four to five years ago, Swift said. Fred Meyer will make some minor improvements to the property and Swift said it hopes to open the station in one to two months.
