In March of this year, the 91ÊÓƵ held its first Leadership in Law awards as a way to recognize local attorneys with more than 10 years of experience. And while the profiles we wrote at the time for each of them were interesting, we felt they left us wanting to know a little more about what really makes these legal leaders tick.This week, we talk to Walter Grebe, chairman emeritus and shareholder at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt.

Question: What is one of the most amusing or unusual memories you have from law school?

Walter Grebe: I remember a cocktail party where all of the law students had dates, none of whom had any interest in the law. We, of course, could only talk about the law. As the party broke up, one of the women picked up a fork and shouted, “Here is to the law fork…”

Q: If you could choose a fantasy career that is totally different from practicing law, what would it be?

Grebe: My fantasy career would be CEO of a major industrial company headquartered in Portland.

Q: In your opinion, what is the best legal movie or novel ever?

Grebe: My favorite legal novel is the Cain Mutiny Court Martial. I love the scene at the victory party where the defense lawyer berates his clients.
