Nineteen Oregon attorneys recently were singled out as finalists in the Daily Journal of Commerce’s second annual Leadership in Law awards program.

Leadership in Law was created to pay tribute to long-standing members of the legal community in Oregon. This year’s finalists are:

  • Robert Barton, a senior partner with ;
  • Akin Blitz, an attorney with ;
  • Larry Brisbee, a partner with ;
  • Jerry Carleton, president of ;
  • Dayna Christian, an attorney with ;
  • Lea Ann Easton, a partner with Dorsay and Easton;
  • Peter Glade, managing shareholder of ;
  • Laurel Hook, managing shareholder of ;
  • James Howsley, an attorney with ;
  • Josh Kadish, an attorney with ;
  • Wayne Landsverk, a partner with ;
  • Jill Laney, managing partner with ;
  • Mark Long and David Bartz, co-nominees from ;
  • Thomas Matsuda, executive director of ;
  • Steven Shropshire, managing shareholder of ;
  • Jon Stride, a partner of ;
  • Steven Ungar, a shareholder with ;
  • Tim Volpert, a partner with ; and
  • Mark Wada, a shareholder with .

The 91ÊÓÆµ sent out a call for nominees earlier this year. Submissions were handed to a pre-screening committee that selected the pool of finalists. The 19 finalists will now be judged by a panel of professionals from the Oregon legal industry; they will use criteria such as community involvement and mentorship to determine the winner.

The 2012 Leadership in Law finalists will be recognized during a dinner event that will run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., March 15, at The Nines hotel in downtown Portland. Tickets are $80 per person if purchased by March 10, or $95 thereafter. Tickets are $35 for students.
