Anyone who’s spent any time on a law school campus will admit there’s a world of difference between the life of an undergraduate and that of a student pursuing a juris doctor degree. But the University of Oregon is looking to narrow that gap, starting as early as the end of this month.

Sam Stites, who covers higher education for the Daily Emerald, that when undergraduate students begin signing up on Feb. 27 for their spring semester classes, they’ll find among the mix two law courses that will be offered by the university’s law school.

The courses, American Law and Environmental Law and Policy, are expected to create a bridge between the university’s undergraduate and law schools, according to Adell Amos, UO’s associate dean for academic affairs.

And while taking two law courses may not be enough to convince most undergraduate students to apply for law school, university administrators hope the exposure will help students better understand how law applies to their current areas of study and their future careers, Amos told Stites.
