There are problems with the nation鈥檚 federal court system. And according to Justice Antonin Scalia, one of those problems is a flood of petty criminal cases 鈥� better suited for state courts 鈥� that have turned the U.S. Supreme Court into a 鈥渃ourt of criminal appeals.鈥�

Federal courts are clogged with 鈥渘ickel and dime criminal cases,鈥� Scalia told attendees of an American Bar Association meeting in New Orleans earlier this month, . He called the situation 鈥減robably regrettable鈥� and added that it doesn鈥檛 reflect 鈥渨hat the federal courts were set up for.鈥�
