Career highlight: In addition to being listed in Corporate Counsel magazine鈥檚 annual guide to top lawyers, Landsverk achieved local celebrity status by being named among Portland鈥檚 best attorneys by Portland Monthly magazine.

Noteworthy: Landsverk works with Voices Unlimited, a choir composed of developmentally disabled adults, and is a past president of the Portland Youth Philharmonic Association.

Wayne Landsverk earned his law degree from Wisconsin and took the advice of a Horace Greeley-quoting professor who advised him to 鈥済o west, young man.鈥�

Once in Oregon, he clerked for Judge Robert Foley in the Oregon Court of Appeals, an experience he said he valued as a window in the law. In 1974 he joined the Portland City Attorney鈥檚 office before moving into private practice, where he focused on employment and labor law.

Landsverk has been included in Best Lawyers in America since 2005 and is regularly listed in Oregon Super Lawyers. He has been listed in Corporate Counsel magazine鈥檚 annual guide to top lawyers and named among Portland鈥檚 best attorneys by Portland Monthly magazine. He also serves on a number of councils, boards and groups.

鈥淚 enjoy working with employers and help them do the right thing.聽 It鈥檚 that simple,鈥� Landsverk said.聽鈥淪ometimes it takes more work than usual to get there, but the voice of reason usually rings clear in a client鈥檚 ear if it鈥檚 said often enough.鈥�

He鈥檚 lent his own ear 鈥� and direction 鈥� to young attorneys through the Multnomah County Bar Association Mentor Program, an effort he has been involved in since it first formed.

Outside of the office, Landsverk is on the board of directors for Friendly House and works with Voices Unlimited, a choir composed of developmentally disabled adults.

He volunteers with the Special Olympics, the Oregon Historical Society and the Lang Syne Society of Portland, and is a past president of the Portland Youth Philharmonic Association, where two of his three sons have played viola and bassoon. He and his family have also been part of Reed College鈥檚 International Student Host Program for many years.

鈥淚 love my practice,鈥� Landsverk said.聽 鈥淚 get a similar thrill as a coach with Special Olympics, especially playing golf with the kids.聽Pair up with a handicapped athlete for a round of golf and your world changes.聽It keeps things in perspective.鈥�
