Upon graduating from Haverford College with bachelor鈥檚 degrees in political science and philosophy, Josh Kadish explored a couple of professions before deciding on law school.

He worked as a carpenter. He worked as a home remodeler. He even put his classical oboe training to work, occasionally finding gigs as a semi-professional musician.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a great instrument, but not the best way to make money,鈥� he said.

Kadish earned his law degree from Stanford Law School in 1979 and entered the legal profession with Sidney Lezak as a mentor. Now a partner at Wyse Kadish, he 聽practices family law, trusts and estates, and business and corporate transactions. His favored specialty is family mediation, ranging from will contests and small business issues to divorces and prenuptial agreements

鈥淢ediation is very creative work, it鈥檚 helpful to people generally, and it represents the really good aspect of what the legal system can offer people,鈥� Kadish said. 鈥淚t also provides an opportunity to directly interact with people, speak to their intellectual and emotional sides, and help them find solutions to problems.鈥�

Music has remained close to his heart, though. Along with supporting Chamber Music Northwest and Young Musicians and Artists, Kadish sings with an a cappella group called The Sandals that plays weddings, clubs and charitable events. He also sings with the Bach Cantata Choir, an amateur group that is covering the Bach Cantatas over 20 years.

In addition, you can find Kadish playing guitar and singing at the Hillsdale Farmer鈥檚 Market the first Sunday of each month that the market is open. He says he has the best of all worlds though, after several decades of earning a stable living, Kadish made this observation: 鈥淚t鈥檚 much more fun to have music as a hobby, really.鈥�
