Roman D. Hernandez, a shareholder in the Portland office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, is this year’s recipient of the J. Michael Brown Award presented by the DuPont Minority Counsel Network. The award, which recognizes outstanding efforts to increase and promote diversity in the legal profession, was presented to Hernandez during DuPont’s annual Minority Counsel Conference held June 6 in Washington, D.C.
Hernandez is a past president of the Hispanic National Bar Association and currently serves as chairman of the board of directors for the organization’s Legal Education Fund. He serves on the board of directors of The Oregon Community Foundation and is a member of the board of Oregon Health & Science University.
He has been recognized by Hispanic Business magazine as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics in the United States and was listed in Latino Leaders magazine’s “Top 101 Latino Leaders” for two consecutive years. This past April, he received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Cascade Pacific Council of Boy Scouts of America.
