Portland technology company is going mobile.
Last week, the company launched a new application designed to connect workers in the field with operations and back of office support via smart phone. It’s called Viewpoint Mobile Field Manager, and it essentially gives companies the ability to capture labor time, equipment usage and production on a job and communicate it directly to office personnel.
鈥淭ypically what happens is a laborer punches in a paper time sheet at the end of the day,鈥 said Jeremy Larsen, product manager at Viewpoint. 鈥淭he foreman then has to give it to the office, and they record it in the system. In that scenario, this will remove two people out of the process.鈥
The software is compatible on Android and iOS phones and tablets and is powered by a company called Resource Commander, with which Viewpoint is partnering. The extension works with Viewpoint’s V6 software.
Larson said the Mobile Field Manager works even if workers don’t have access to the internet. Information entered will automatically update to networks once a connection is established. He said the software is also available in a Windows format and that it will be compatible with Windows 8 when that comes out.
鈥淲e’ve really spent about 12 months engaged with our customers and prospects about the mobile space and what the true needs were,鈥 Larson said. 鈥淎t the very top of their needs was to be able to enter labor time and equipment usage and productivity. So what we’re hitting the market with is right at the top of the priority list.鈥
